Wetblue – durable, tear-resistant and comfortable..

Chrome-tanned leather is mainly used in furniture and automotive upholstery.

At Schnittger, we outsource the entire tanning process to specialist service providers. Each partner is carefully selected to ensure modern, environment-friendly production. All Schnittger wetblue is produced exclusively from grain split leather with a thickness of 1.7 mm. The tanning method is agreed in consultation with the customer, the majority of whom opt for chrome. As well as being more tear-resistant than other products, chrome-tanned leather is much less likely to cause skin reactions.

Immediately after tanning, the raw leather is still wet and has a characteristic blue shimmer – hence the name “wetblue”. Before shipment, the product is sammed (dried) and sorted by thickness and type in accordance with the customer’s own requirements.

Uses

Wetblue is mainly used in furniture and automotive upholstery, but is also suitable for aviation upholstery and garment manufacture.

Synthetic and/or vegetable-based tanning is also available on request – just ask!

Better processing through outsourcing

All tanning processes are outsourced to selected providers with modern equipment and specialist expertise. This arrangement adds speed and flexibility to the processing of customer orders.

We store, you save.

Our wetblue stocks are so extensive that we can supply any product with minimal delay. As a result, most customers simply order when required, thus avoiding the cost of holding their own stock.
